Tsukushi Gata Japanese Maple The deep red-black, dark chocolate colored foliage of Acer palmatum ‘Tsukushi gata’ holds its surprising color all summer, when the star-shaped leaves change to scarlet before they drop. A rare form of Japanese Maple, it produces green seed set as well as green venation and bark, all of which contribute to a dramatic color contrast.
